Tree Distribution

Thanks for your interest in planting trees with Trees Please. We ask as much as possible that you do your own research regarding the suitability of trees for where you plan to plant them. Many trees are suitable for smaller gardens, but many are not. If space is limited, trees can be pruned to smaller sizes and hedging can also be a good option.

Each year, in the month of February, we organise the distribution of thousands of bare root trees to the general public, which usually happens over two days. Keep an eye on our social media for exact dates and locations. We can offer trees for a small donation of 1€ per tree, thanks to funds raised from activities throughout the year.

While we grow trees from seed ourselves, the majority of the trees we distribute are bought in bulk from reputable Irish sources. We are supplied by Trees On The Land, Reforest Nation, Wild Oaks and None So Hardy, and are very grateful for their continued support.

Once you receive your bare root trees, the roots should be kept moist (in water or wet soil), and the trees should be planted in soil as soon as possible.

If you are looking for more information on native Irish trees, we recommend the wonderful publication Our Trees - A guide to growing Ireland’s native trees in celebration of a new Millennium’ which was released in 2000 as part of the People’s Millenium Forests Project, as well as the following websites

Wild Oaks

Please note that we do not provide trees to farmers. There are other tree suppliers, such as Trees On The Land who are better suited to farmer’s needs.
